June ‘08 Newsletter Excerpt: REFLECTIONS

Judy HackettBy: Dr. Judy Hackett, IAASE President

What an exciting year this has been—full of adventure, change and opportunity! IAASE was involved in many exciting state and regional activities throughout the year. As a result of increased membership, increased participation at each of three annual conferences, and increased representation on state-level committees, IAASE members continue to share their talents and shape the field of special education through effective leadership.

As I move into the position of Past-President, I want to take the opportunity to reflect on what I have learned as President. During the two years of my Presidency, I have enjoyed many opportunities to learn and grow through a very significant phase of our evolution as an organization—within an even greater context of change in education.

IAASE.org New Website Features

Brought to you by the Technology Committee . . . on Monday 2/11, we have introduced an entirely new version of the IAASE.org website. Most of the changes were made in the “back-office” code for the site, but you will see some new features immediately. The changes in the site will allow us to add new features and update the site with less cost.

The first new “major” feature is the REGION MAP feature. Click on the “MEMBERS -> REGION MAPS” navigation items above, and you will be taken to this new feature. Region Reps will be able to update their region’s information whenever they log in on the site. Please bear with us as this information is updated.

When you log in, you can check the “remember me” box, and you will not have to log in again on that computer as long as you have visited the site within the next year.

There are also new features being introduced to give our administrative staff better control and access to information on the membership database. The web site is not only used as an information delivery mechanism - it also tracks our membership and provides our administrators with easy access to membership status information.

Thank you for visiting IAASE.org. If you have comments or ideas, feel free to contact Tedd McCauley, Carrie Clodi, Bob Fennema or Kate Shutter.
