Special education, while focused on the unique needs of each individual student, has numerous opportunities for parents and team members to disagree on the way in which the student should be served. Developed for both new and veteran special education administrators, this Academy provides guidance regarding what can be expected, options to consider, legal implications of decision-making, and calculated risks involved in a variety of special education issues. For general education administrators, this Academy will raise their awareness of their options and provide a template from which to begin to address a special education issue. For teachers and related service providers, this Academy will provide proactive strategies, as well as options, in order to face the multitude of issues that they encounter on a daily basis.
